Microsoft has introduced a new version of its 13-inch Surface Laptop for global distribution at a lower entry price. The updated model targets budget-conscious buyers who need basic computing tasks without the cost of premium configurations.

Updated model targets budget buyers with cheaper Snapdragon X Plus configuration

The device ships with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 chipset and an 8 GB RAM configuration. This base setup replaces earlier models that started with 24 GB or 32 GB of memory, which significantly reduces the upfront hardware cost for consumers.

Microsoft pairs the processor with a 400-nit IPS display that supports a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and a standard refresh rate. The laptop includes a 50 Wh battery pack to support mobile usage across different environments.

The new configuration starts at $949.99, which marks a shift from previous pricing tiers for the same form factor. Microsoft has not included Copilot+ certification in this specific hardware revision, limiting access to certain AI features tied to that program.
