Marvelous announced a new turn-based RPG, Eternal Anima. This upcoming title is designed to appeal to players looking for strategy in a fantasy world. Marvelous wants to combine the cozy aspects of their previous series with combat that gives you more player agency.

New Marvelous RPG features Future Sight Battles and time travel mechanics
This is an important announcement because it’s a new IP in a very crowded market. It has a specific mechanic that will appeal to JRPG lovers.
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PC (Steam)
- Genre: Turn-based RPG
- Release Date: March 4, 2027
Eternal Anima is set to release on March 4, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC via Steam. According to Development Director, Katsuhisa Higuchi, battles are the core of what makes a JRPG. He says they made sure that players will feel in control of their strategic decisions in the game's encounters.
Eternal Anima is focusing on time travel as the major plot and gameplay mechanic. There’s a 'Psychometry' ability that enables players to engage with the past. The time-traveling mechanics are deeply woven into the turn-based gameplay, which makes a loop where past events affect your tactics in the moment.
In-game battles are structured around a mechanic called 'Future Sight Battles.' This feature lets you see what your enemies are doing before you make your moves. Producer Makoto Shioda says they want players to take time and think about their battles. They don't want to focus on reflexes or luck.
Marvelous plans to bring the unique aspects of their Story of Seasons and Rune Factory series to Eternal Anima. They'll bring that coziness to the story and visuals of this game. You'll have a full experience of charm and tactical strategy.
