Bungie's Game Director Joe Ziegler has acknowledged that the game Marathon is overwhelming to learn and too sweaty. The admission comes ahead of the Season 2 update, which aims to address these concerns.

Season 2 introduces relaxed PvE modes

Season 2 begins on June 2. It will introduce two new PvE-focused modes designed for more relaxed play. The update also includes the Night Marsh zone, a new Sentinel shell, additional weapons, and a progression revamp. Duos queue, improved matchmaking, and a vault expansion are also planned.

Season 2 launches globally on June 2.

Future seasons will focus on improving onboarding for new players. A new zone with alien elements is also planned for later updates. Bungie has not confirmed the full scope of changes beyond Season 2.
