Intel has set a new CPU frequency world record with the Core i9-14900KF processor. The chip reached 9.2 GHz, surpassing the previous record of 9.1 GHz set in August 2025. The achievement was verified by HWBot and CPU-Z Validator.
Extreme cooling and voltage tweaks enable the record
The overclock was performed on an Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard with 16 GB of DDR5 SDRAM. The system used an Asus ROG Thor Gaming 1600 W power supply and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme thermal paste. To reach the extreme frequency, the overclocker applied extreme voltage adjustments and sub-zero liquid helium cooling. Only a single P-core was enabled, and all power limits were removed. The run lasted only seconds, as such conditions are not sustainable for long-term operation.
The previous record of 9.1 GHz was also held by an Intel processor. The Core i9-14900KF is part of Intel's Raptor Lake-R lineup. The record demonstrates the overclocking potential of the architecture under extreme cooling.
