PC gamers who wanted to play Infamous Second Son on their desktops finally have a working option after years of emulation struggles. A custom fork of the ShadPS4 emulator now lets the Sucker Punch Productions title run at native 4K resolution and a stable 60 frames per second. This release resolves the graphical glitches and crashes that made the game practically unplayable on the standard emulator branch. Players with high-end hardware can now experience the game with high graphical accuracy and correct effect rendering.
Community developer resolves crashes and graphical glitches for Sucker Punch title
The working build comes from a custom fork of ShadPS4 developed by Twitter user @ayoub_le_vrai. Ayoub fine-tuned the previous build with help from Claude and achieved a playable version in just 24 hours. The developer posted the result with the caption, "I feel like breaking down in tears. It's a dream come true." The fork adds cheat support and fixes rendering errors that plagued earlier attempts.
Performance testing shows the fork is more CPU-intensive than other builds, meaning stronger processors deliver better results. Independent testing by Lucas (@lisboas_lucas) on a Ryzen 7 5700X at 1440p yielded between 30 and 50 FPS. Lucas described the results as "pretty decent" and called the fork the best available in terms of graphical accuracy. The game runs at a stable 60 FPS on high-end hardware, resolving previous instability issues.
The custom fork is already publicly available on GitHub following Ayoub's release last week. A Patreon page exists for donations, but access to the emulator is not paywalled. This availability marks a significant shift for PC gamers who previously had to rely on console hardware to play the title. The release demonstrates the rapid progress of PS4 emulation on PC platforms.
