Leaks suggest the Huawei Mate 90 series will launch in fall 2026 with external teleconverter support, dual periscope cameras on Pro Max models, and a new Kirin processor using LogicFolding architecture.

Huawei is reportedly preparing the Mate 90 series for a fall 2026 launch, with early leaks pointing to significant hardware changes across the lineup. The upcoming devices will feature a fresh design compared to the Mate 80 series to accommodate an expanded camera ecosystem. This shift includes dedicated support for external teleconverters, marking a departure from previous integrated lens systems.

Upcoming devices will include dedicated accessories and a fresh design for an expanded camera ecosystem.

The core of the new generation relies on a next-generation Kirin processor rumored to introduce Huawei's LogicFolding architecture. Rather than relying solely on traditional transistor shrinking, this design stacks key logic circuits vertically. The move aims to increase transistor density by up to 53.5 percent and improve power efficiency on performance cores by 41 percent.

Camera capabilities are expected to see a major upgrade in the Mate 90 Pro Max and Mate 90 RS models. Early leaks suggest these variants will feature dual periscope telephoto cameras, with one prototype reportedly tested using a 10x optical zoom lens. The external teleconverter support mentioned by Weibo tipster Fixed Focus Digital could further expand photographic flexibility for users.

Supply chain shifts are also influencing the design of upcoming accessories. Huawei has reportedly switched suppliers for these external teleconverters, meaning the new attachments may look and function quite differently from earlier versions. This change aligns with the broader redesign of the Mate 90 series to support a more modular camera approach.

Performance benchmarks for the rumored Kirin processor are said to be approaching 's 18A process and early-generation TSMC 3nm technology. While these comparisons highlight potential gains, Huawei has not officially confirmed specific performance metrics or release dates beyond the fall 2026 window.
