Microsoft and Halo Studios are releasing Halo Campaign Evolved, a major remake of the original Xbox Halo title. The update celebrates the franchise's 25th anniversary by revamping the classic campaign for modern platforms.

New prequel missions and significant adjustments to The Library mission level are included in the campaign overhaul.

The project ties directly into Xbox Game Pass and serves as a key step in advancing Unreal Engine 5 adoption across Microsoft's gaming portfolio. The updated campaign is available to play on Xbox consoles and PC via a standard subscription service.

New prequel missions featuring Sergeant Johnson are woven into the campaign structure, offering fresh narrative context for veteran fans. The team has also applied significant adjustments to The Library mission level, altering its layout and pacing while preserving core design elements.

Master Chief remains customizable with a roster of unlockable skins that players can earn through gameplay progression. Dozens of classic skulls will return to support varied difficulty modifiers, but the update explicitly excludes any microtransaction storefront or paid cosmetic marketplace.

Specific details regarding additional level redesigns remain undisclosed until Halo Studios presents further information during the Xbox showcase on June 7. The studio has indicated it will not discuss other changes beyond those already confirmed before that event.
