Gran Turismo 7 players can now access a significant content update that reshapes handling dynamics and adds four new vehicles to the showroom. This August patch, identified as version 1.71/1.710, delivers a hefty download that addresses core physics systems while expanding the racing roster. The changes matter because they alter how cars behave on track and introduce specific models that appeal to both casual racers and simulation enthusiasts.

August update brings Caterham, Hyundai, and Toyota models to the game

Polyphony Digital released this update for the exclusive racing simulator. The patch introduces the Caterham Seven Superlight R500 and Hyundai IONIQ 6 N to Brand Central. It also adds the Toyota Chaser Tourer V and Toyota Mark II Tourer V to the Used Cars dealership. These additions give players access to lightweight sports cars, modern electric performance sedans, and classic Japanese touring cars.

The update includes a major overhaul of the game's physics engine to improve realism and balance. Developers adjusted the tyre physics algorithm to better simulate grip and wear characteristics during races. They also refined the engine torque control and updated the physics models for suspension and steering. These changes aim to provide more consistent handling across different vehicle types and track conditions.

New racing events have been added to the World Circuits mode to utilize the updated physics and new cars. Players can now compete in the European Clubman Cup 600, World Touring Car 600, and Japanese FR Challenge 450. The patch also improves support for Fanatec steering wheels by optimizing the Tuning Menu Auto Setup for the GT DD Pro, GT DD Extreme, and Podium series. FullForce feedback effects are now enabled on the Fanatec GT DD Pro for enhanced tactile response.

We looked at the last Gran Turismo 7 update earlier while tracking Polyphony Digital's release schedule, and several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This patch continues the developer's focus on refining simulation accuracy and peripheral support. The update is live now for all players, requiring a download to access the new cars, events, and physics improvements.
