Google is adding a new visual layer to smartphone interactions with the Pixel 11 Pro. The device will feature Pixel Glow, an RGB LED system in the camera module that changes color for notifications and AI feedback. This feature gives users a quick, glanceable way to check messages or assistant status without unlocking their phone.

Google confirms new RGB LED flash for notifications and AI feedback

The Pixel 11 Pro is part of the upcoming Pixel 11 series, which Google will officially unveil on August 12. The phone will run on the Google Tensor G6 ARM chip, according to rumors. Google also plans to remove the temperature sensor that was present in the Pixel 10 Pro.

Google published a short teaser video in the Google Store showing the LED flash changing colors. The company stated, "Google has published a short teaser video in the Google Store in which the color of the LED flash in the camera module changes." The Pixel Glow feature is expected to indicate notifications with specific colors, such as green for WhatsApp and blue for Facebook.

It remains unclear whether Pixel Glow will be exclusive to the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL or if it will also appear on the standard Pixel 11 and the foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Earlier rumors suggest the LEDs may also provide visual feedback during AI voice assistant conversations.
