Sony Santa Monica has announced God of War Laufey, a new spinoff title for the franchise that shifts focus to Kratos’ wife, Faye (Laufey). The game was revealed during the June 2, 2026 PlayStation State of Play event. It continues the Norse storyline from previous entries while introducing a fresh protagonist and setting.
Faye navigates a dangerous labyrinth in the afterlife realm known as the Everywhere to protect her family.
Faye serves as the playable character in this installment. Players navigate a labyrinthine structure to escape after being reborn following her death. The game features melee combat centered around swordplay, marking a departure from Kratos’ signature axe-based fighting style.
The narrative places Faye in the afterlife of the gods, known as the Everywhen. This realm is depicted as a dangerous land filled with powerful magic and ruthless deities vying for control. The trailer footage highlights her interactions with Sekhmet, an Egyptian goddess associated with war, plague, and healing.
Laufey introduces long-awaited Egyptian themes to the franchise. This expansion of the mythological scope builds upon the Norse setting established in earlier games. Faye’s journey involves protecting Kratos and Atreus from risks that threaten her carefully laid plans for their safety.
