Ghost of Yotei has brought in $407 million so far, which is almost as much as Ghost of Tsushima ($418 million) did at this point in their respective runs. The part about the numbers being pretty much identical is that this sequel is doing this while it's sold less copies than the first game. There's more money per copy for Sucker Punch Productions as people are buying this sequel at a higher launch price of $70. So Ghost of Yotei is showing that you can have a successful major release with a smaller but more dedicated set of fans.

Ghost of Yotei revenue hits $407 million, nearly matching Ghost of Tsushima despite selling 1.6 million fewer copies
Ghost of Yotei was made as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Ghost of Tsushima, on the other hand, was available for both PS4 and PS5 platforms. Sucker Punch Productions took what they learned from the expansion on Ghost of Tsushima to guide the new Sekigahara story. We've been following Ghost of Yotei a lot, including an article we did on how the developers of Ghost of Yotei are using what they learned from the expansion of Ghost of Tsushima for a new story with Sekigahara.
So far Ghost of Yotei has sold around 5.4 million copies. This is less than Ghost of Tsushima's 7 million copies sold. Even though Ghost of Yotei is selling less, it's earning about 26% more per buyer than Ghost of Tsushima did.
That's because of the pricing. Ghost of Yotei launched at $70, which only got discounted twice. Meanwhile Ghost of Tsushima launched at $60 and was already at $45 just three months later.
Ghost of Yotei brought in 1.8 million new buyers in 2026. That's another $121 million added to Ghost of Yotei's revenue total. Bringing in so many new buyers kept the revenue going for quite a while in Ghost of Yotei's second year.
That higher price didn't stop new people from jumping into the franchise. Ghost of Yotei proved it can grow its audience while keeping it well monetized.
When it comes to Ghost of Yotei, it shows how you can have a release that matches the revenue of a wider but cheaper release. Thanks to that $70 launch price and being a PlayStation 5 exclusive. And with bringing in new buyers in 2026, the franchise still looks like it can have a long life. Sucker Punch Productions showed that you can compete with older releases that were on multiple platforms with a focused PlayStation 5 release.
