Final Fantasy XI celebrates its 24th anniversary with an indefinite free trial up to level 75, a $10 expansion bundle on Steam, reduced world transfer fees, and new content planned until the 30th anniversary.

Square Enix is celebrating the 24th anniversary of Final Fantasy XI with a series of promotions. The free trial for the game has been extended indefinitely, allowing players to level up to 75 without a subscription. The company also announced new content to support the game until its 30th anniversary.

The expansion bundle for Final Fantasy XI is now available on for 10 USD (about $10.00). World transfer fees have been reduced. The standard subscription costs 12.95 USD (about $12.95) per month for one character. A campaign called Return Home to Vana'diel is targeting former players.

The expansion bundle is available at a steep discount.

The promotions began on May 16, 2026, the anniversary date. Yoji Fujito, the game's producer, stated that the team will continue to work on solidifying the game's foundation to help it reach its 30th anniversary.

Final Fantasy XI originally launched in 2002. The game remains one of the few subscription-based MMORPGs from that era still receiving updates. The new content and extended free trial aim to attract both new and returning players.
