Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will feature new gameplay mechanics, according to reports from Insider Gaming and GamesRadar+. The studio is also considering the possibility of developing a story DLC for the upcoming title if there is sufficient fan support. Director Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the team considered releasing a DLC right up until immediately before the project officially moved into the planning phase.

The development team’s primary goal is to deliver Part 3 quickly with high polish, as stated by Naoki Hamaguchi. The director has already completed over 40 full playthroughs of the upcoming title to ensure quality standards are met. Square Enix stated that they were open to exploring those possibilities proactively if the demand from fans continues to grow for both the title and the franchise.

DLC was not released for the previous installment, Part 2, to allow parallel development of Part 3 and maintain quality standards. The decision reflects how strongly fans continue to support Final Fantasy 7 as both a title and a franchise. Square Enix has confirmed that they have considered the possibility of developing a story DLC right up until immediately before the project officially moved into the planning phase.

The studio is now open to exploring those possibilities proactively if there is enough demand from fans. This approach ensures that the third entry reaches fans as quickly as possible at a level of polish they would find satisfying. The news comes after reports from ntower and GamesRadar+ highlighted the potential for new content in the series.

According to Insider Gaming, Square Enix has not confirmed the specific release window or pricing details for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. The vendor has stated that DLC is possible if there is sufficient fan support, but no official launch date has been announced yet.
