Evil Raptor has released the first proper update for its early access game Far Far West. The patch addresses player feedback on the game's progression systems and balance.
Prestige grind reduced by half
The prestige system grind has been reduced by half with increased experience gains. The prestige level cap has been raised from 10 to 15, and players can now unlock one more bonus upgrade slot for a total of six. The price of main weapons has dropped from 500 gold to 300 gold. Jokers are now instanced per player, with sharing available via the minimap. Several weapons received buffs: the Bow gets more base and backup ammo, and its Bend Speed upgrade now applies a 10% bonus per level with half the levels needed to max. The Dual Revolvers gain a base damage buff. The Minigun's Fire Rate upgrade is doubled per level with half as many to unlock. The Overblast Joker was nerfed: it now takes four missing shots in the magazine for each extra pellet instead of one. Cryptic Deadeye and Cryptic Deathrattle enemies were nerfed; only two Cryptic Deadeyes can target a single player at once. Quality of life changes include the ability to carry pigs and chickens, Wishing Well awards Jokers, a piano emote, an improved gambling machine, a ban option, explicit mission unlock conditions, and the Shine Bright buff now stackable up to eight.
The update is available globally as of February 20, 2025.
Evil Raptor acknowledged the grind issue, stating that being in early access is not an excuse for an extremely grindy system. The developer was reluctant to change the Joker system because it makes cooperation and sharing harder. Evil Raptor expressed confidence in delivering more content and features in the coming months.
