GAMES

Retro racing fans can finally play classic Namco System 22 titles on modern hardware with a new fan-made project. This release removes the need for original arcade cabinets by bringing the games to current PC and Xbox Series consoles. You get access to three beloved arcade hits without hunting down vintage hardware.

Wanszai ports Namco System 22 classics to modern consoles with cross-play

Developer Wanszai created the Ridge Racer Arcade Collection to port these specific arcade games to contemporary platforms. The package includes Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer 2, and Rave Racer. It functions as an emulator frontend rather than a commercial re-release.

The software adds true 16:9 widescreen support and allows rendering up to 4K resolution. It also supports racing wheels, shifters, and pedals for authentic arcade-style control. These technical upgrades make the old games look sharp on modern displays.

Online multiplayer and system link functionality have been added to the original single-player experiences. The project is available for both PC and Xbox Series consoles with cross-play support between them. Users must provide their own ROM files since the download contains only the emulator.

This release highlights how community developers are preserving arcade history through software emulation. The cross-platform availability ensures players on different systems can race together. It offers a practical way to experience these classic titles today.
