Id Software released Title Update 4.0 for Doom: The Dark Ages, bringing significant graphical upgrades to the PC version. These changes allow players to maintain higher frame rates during intense combat by enabling dynamic resolution scaling across all major upscaling technologies. This update directly improves performance stability for users running demanding scenes on compatible hardware.

Patch 4.0 brings dynamic resolution scaling to all major upscaling technologies

The patch upgrades the implementation to version 4.5, which features an enhanced upscaling model. It also adds support for 5x and 6x modes on compatible GPUs. The update ensures that all upscaling technologies, including and , now support dynamic resolution scaling. This allows players to select higher upscaling quality settings while maintaining strong frame rates.

On the gameplay side, the Ripatorium mode receives a Continuous Spawn mode with shortened passcodes. New sliders for health, ammo, and Berserk power are now available in this mode. Balance changes include increased melee responsiveness for the Dreadmace, Flail, and Power Gauntlet. Enemy AI tweaks add threat indicators for hitscan weapons and fix projectile collision issues.

All difficulties now default the Daze Duration slider to 100%, standardizing the difficulty experience. We looked at the last Doom: The Dark Ages update earlier while tracking recent balance and stability themes.

This patch combines technical performance improvements with targeted gameplay adjustments. Players on PC gain access to advanced frame generation and dynamic resolution scaling options. The update is now available for Doom: The Dark Ages.
