Life is Strange developer Don't Nod warns auditors it faces insolvency by November 2026 due to low cash reserves and a refusal from shareholder Tencent to provide short- term funding.

Don't Nod faces a severe financial crisis that threatens its continued operation as an independent game developer. The studio behind the Life is Strange series has received a formal warning from its auditors regarding its cash reserves. Without immediate intervention or new funding, the company projects it will exhaust its available funds by November 2026.

Auditors warn the Life is Strange creator will exhaust cash reserves by late 2026 without external capital injection.

The primary concern centers on the studio's liquidity position as of early April 2026. Auditors confirmed that Don't Nod held approximately €8.8 million in cash at that time. This figure is insufficient to sustain current operations and development pipelines through the end of the year without external support.

Tencent, which serves as Don't Nod's principal shareholder, has signaled it will not inject additional capital in the near term. The company chairman stated that Tencent does not wish to subscribe to a new capital increase or fund ongoing projects for now. This decision removes a likely safety net for the French studio during its current liquidity crunch.

Don't Nod is actively exploring several strategies to bridge the financial gap and avoid insolvency. Management plans to seek new business partners who might provide necessary investment or resources. The studio also intends to accelerate the release of existing games and accept work-for-hire projects to generate immediate revenue.
