Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo V will arrive in Spring 2029, marking the next major chapter in the franchise. This release window gives players a clear timeline for when the new content will become available. The announcement indicates a return to core mechanics that long-time fans have requested for years. The game is expected to shift its gameplay focus rather than relying solely on graphical upgrades.

Diablo V is set to arrive in Spring 2029.

New class joins returning Monk and Demon Hunter

The game introduces the Plague Knight, a new class described as a heavily armored walking death. Joe Shely, the senior game director, explained that this class spreads disease on the battlefield and consumes it for power. This addition expands the roster beyond the returning Monk and Demon Hunter classes. Shely stated that Diablo V will launch with more classes than any previous entry in the series.

Itemization returns to the style of Diablo II with the inclusion of runes and runewords. Gear-based sets are also making a comeback to support character building. The inventory system appears to blend design elements from both Diablo IV and Diablo II. Shely confirmed during the stream that the team is bringing new classes to the game to enhance this depth.

The current inventory design shown is a concept and not the final version. There is at least one more new class that has not yet been announced. This suggests the final roster will be larger than what is currently visible. We will have to wait for the Spring 2029 launch to see the complete feature set.

Blizzard confirmed the release window as Spring 2029 for a global launch. The game will feature the Plague Knight alongside returning favorites like the Monk and Demon Hunter. Runes, runewords, and gear-based sets are confirmed to return in the sequel. The inventory design remains a work in progress as the team finalizes the concept.
