Diablo III: Reaper of Souls unofficial Android port for mobile is getting closer to the public release. Gameplay video on Samsung Galaxy S23 is showing progress.
Developer promises public build this week despite technical issues
This news is interesting for mobile gamers interested in playing good old action RPG on their mobile devices. And even though the current version is far from perfect it gives some idea of what Diablo 3 porting to mobile can look like. Of course, there are massive technical challenges here.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is a classic action RPG from Blizzard Entertainment. It was released for consoles and PCs. And the current Android version seems to be a recompile of Xbox 360 edition. Not some native Android application.
It's the work of a developer called Belmante. And he shared a gameplay video on Samsung Galaxy S23. It looks like the team is working with existing console code. Not some new mobile dedicated engine.
And the current performance on the test device is not very good. It needs a lot of work to be optimized. In the video, you can see that during the gameplay there are quite significant drops of FPS.
It breaks the flow of action. Moreover, resolution is very low, so text and details are hard to read on a modern smartphone. So it's very experimental and far from ready for normal use.
Belmante says that he'll release the first public build of Diablo 3 port this week. But he didn't specify the date. Also, he didn't say which Android devices will work with the build.
What are the system requirements? What devices are supported? You should be ready for even more bugs and graphical glitches in the public release of the port.
