Blizzard Entertainment released Diablo 4 Update 2.14 on July 16, bringing immediate changes to the game’s loot system. This patch matters to players because it removes artificial barriers to equipping powerful Mythic Unique items. The update shifts the focus from gathering specific gear slots to building more flexible character builds.

Patch removes artificial barriers to equipping powerful Mythic Unique items

The release marks the start of the Season of Death Awakening. Blizzard adjusted the drop rates for Mythic Uniques from the Corrupted Reaper boss fight to make them more accessible. Players can now equip multiple Mythic Uniques simultaneously, a change that fundamentally alters endgame strategy.

Update 2.14 also removes the restriction that limited players to crafting only one Mythic Unique item. This change allows for greater experimentation with character builds without penalty. The patch notes confirm that Mythic modifiers can no longer be added to Unique Charms and Seals in the Horadric Cube, fixing a previous bug.

Blizzard stated they are increasing the drop rate for Mythics from the Corrupted Reaper boss fight and removing equip limits for Mythic Uniques. Additionally, in a patch coming next week, they are adding Superior Lair Keys to the Glints of Hope repeatable cache and increasing the Mythic Tribute drop rates in the Undercity. These adjustments aim to streamline the progression loop for dedicated players.

We looked at Diablo 4 earlier while tracking recent seasonal updates. The immediate removal of equip limits and crafting restrictions provides a clearer path for players to optimize their characters. The next patch will further support this goal by improving key drop sources.
