Console players can finally download the latest update for Diablo 2: Resurrected, bringing the game into its 15th competitive season. This patch arrives on August 18, allowing players to access new seasonal features and item adjustments immediately. The timing shift means the competitive ladder opens slightly later than previous seasons, giving players a brief window to prepare their characters before the reset.
Console players access patch 1.39 as competitive ladder resets later this week
The update, labeled version 3.3 with internal numbers 1.39 and 1.039, targets console users specifically. Blizzard released this patch to introduce Ladder Season 15, which resets competitive rankings and introduces new items. The game remains available on major console platforms, ensuring a broad audience can participate in the new season.
Seasonal items like Bloodletter, The Battlebranch, and Rogue’s Bow now have changed stats and are restricted to Ladder play. Previous ladder-exclusive items become available in Non-Ladder modes when the new season begins. Blizzard also adjusted drop rates for Terror Zones and Colossal Ancients, increasing the chance for Rare+ loot while reducing Latent Sunder Charm drops. The update adjusts progression and rewards to better balance the experience for active players.
The competitive ladder starts on August 21 at 5:00 p.m. PDT in North America. European players can join the ladder on August 22 at 2:00 a.m. CEST, while Asian players access it on August 22 at 9:00 a.m. KST. Blizzard stated they are adjusting patch and ladder timing going forward, starting with this season. Players are advised to verify their local time zones to avoid missing the start of the new ladder season.
