Developer Iván Delgado has announced GB Bridge, a modified emulator that lets Game Boy games run on the Game Boy Advance. The project targets a fantasy console that sits between the two handhelds.

GB Bridge uses special registers for native GBA routines.

GB Bridge uses special registers to trigger native GBA routines. It aims to deliver expanded resolution, additional colors, and use of the wider GBA screen. Delgado described it as basically a Game Boy Color with a different memory map, a bigger screen, and extra inputs.

Delgado has tested key parts and confirmed they are feasible. The current test case is Super Mario Land. However, he noted that each game will likely require substantial individual work to take full advantage of the system.

The project is long-term. Delgado said not to expect releases anytime soon. He has not confirmed a release window or pricing for GB Bridge.
