Bungie is correcting a store messaging error for Marathon on PlayStation by giving affected players the base game at no extra cost. The issue arose because users who purchased the Deluxe Edition upgrade during the open play trial did not realize their purchase only included the upgrade and excluded the full base game. This fix applies to Sony console owners who added the title to their library during that period.
PlayStation owners who bought the upgrade now get the full game automatically via mailbox.
The correction targets players who bought the Marathon Deluxe Edition upgrade for $13.99 or £10.49 without understanding it did not include the base game until Bungie updated its store messaging. The developer will grant access to the full edition automatically through the in-game mailbox for those who made the purchase before the correction.
Marathon Season 2 experienced server instability following a recent update, which caused downtime and required Bungie to deploy fixes. To compensate for these service interruptions, the studio extended the free trial period through Thursday June 11. Players logging into the game during this extended open play week will receive fifty Silk directly in their mailbox.
The developer also implemented economic balance adjustments alongside the server repairs. The team fixed a bug that caused Cert containers to spawn more frequently than intended in the Night Marsh map location. Progression costs for The Cradle area increased by twenty-five percent as part of these changes.
This patch addresses both store confusion and live service disruptions for Marathon on PlayStation. Players who purchased the upgrade during the trial now receive the complete base game without additional charges. The studio resolved server downtime, extended the free trial window, and distributed fifty Silk to active users while adjusting in-game economy variables.
