Hooded Horse is releasing its medieval management simulator Blacksmith Master on November 19, 2026, a date that coincides with the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. This timing choice matters to players who might expect their attention to be divided by a major open-world title, but the publisher argues the genres are distinct enough to avoid competition. PC gamers seeking a crime simulation will not find a PC version of GTA VI on that day, leaving the market open for other titles.
Hooded Horse CEO says console-only GTA VI leaves PC market open for medieval shop simulator
Blacksmith Master is a shop management simulator currently available in Steam Early Access. The game tasks players with running a medieval blacksmith business, focusing on crafting and customer interactions rather than combat. Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender addressed the scheduling conflict directly, stating that the release will not suffer from the simultaneous GTA VI launch. He noted that indie developers often worry too much about launching alongside major releases, but this specific case presents no harm.
The publisher’s strategy relies on the fact that GTA VI is launching exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. PC players looking to steal cars and shoot enemies in that specific title will not have that option on November 19, 2026. Instead, those players will find Blacksmith Master, which offers a completely different experience centered on managing little people shoeing horses. Bender joked that this shift in player intent is actually a strategic advantage for his studio.
Another title, Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed by Devolver Digital, is also scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. This confirms that November 19 is a busy day for PC gaming releases, though the genres vary significantly. Hooded Horse maintains that releasing a non-AAA, non-action-adventure game on this date is safe. The studio advises against releasing similar AAA console-focused games on this day, but stands by its current lineup.
