The latest port of Banjo-Kazooie for the Evercade Super Pocket Rare Edition handheld adds a hidden music player that reveals over 20 unused beta tracks from the original N64 development cycle. This update gives players access to audio from cut levels like Lava World and Atlantis, offering a tangible piece of gaming history that was previously inaccessible. Buyers of the handheld now have a new reason to revisit the classic platformer, as the feature unlocks only after completing the main game.

Evercade Super Pocket Rare Edition update unlocks cut N64 audio

HyperMegaTech developed this specific port to address the hardware limitations of the Evercade Super Pocket Rare Edition. The handheld device does not feature an analog stick, which created a control scheme challenge for the Tiptoeing mechanic found in the original game. To solve this, the developers added a dedicated button for Tiptoeing, ensuring the gameplay remains faithful to the source material despite the different controller layout.

  • Platform: Evercade Super Pocket Rare Edition
  • New Feature: Music player with over 20 unused 'beta' tracks
  • Control Change: Added button for Tiptoeing (no analog stick)

The new music player serves as a post-game reward for players who finish the adventure. It contains beta music intended for levels that never made it into the final release, including the Mine, Funfair, and Wintry Walk stages. These tracks provide insight into the development process of the original Rare title, preserving audio assets that were discarded during the N64 era.

Cosmetic adjustments also appear in this version, such as replacing Banjo's Game Boy prop with a Super Pocket device to match the handheld platform. The port is currently available for purchase, with a broader release or related hardware availability noted for June 2026. This update demonstrates how retro ports can expand on original content while adapting to modern handheld constraints.
