A user reported that their ASUS ROG Equalizer power cable suffered a burn incident. The damage included visible scorch marks on the connector pins and melted plastic housing around one of the ends.

ASUS has not commented on the reported incident

ASUS introduced the ROG Equalizer as a $50 accessory designed to prevent connector burns on high-end NVIDIA graphics cards. The company markets the device as a 600W-rated solution capable of handling 17A per line without overheating.

Independent testing by Der8auer revealed that the cable performed worse than standard 12V-2×6 connectors in controlled evaluations. The review highlighted significant current variance of up to 4A between individual pins during operation.

ASUS has not released an official statement regarding this specific burn report. The company previously stated that connector temperatures should remain below 105 degrees Celsius under normal use.
