3DClouds moves on from managing your survival for something more like gritty vehicular adventure with the unveiling of AfterZero: The Last Drive. The studio is pivoting to a narrative exploratory experience instead of survival base building focused gameplay. The game will release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. Get your calendar ready if you're looking for a narrative-driven survival game next year.

Developer shifts from base building to endless winter exploration
AfterZero: The Last Drive is a single-player title that's set in a post-industrial wasteland. This is a world mired in a never-ending winter that makes for an oppressive environment. You'll be driving an off-road vehicle called Old Grizzly as you traverse through this bleak landscape. According to the developer, the campaign is a little on the more unforgiving side of things, compared to what they've made before.
3DClouds' CEO, Francesco Bruschi, says that the tone of this game is very much a departure for them. "AfterZero: The Last Drive’s oppressive atmosphere and somewhat unforgiving campaign is a big departure for us at 3DClouds." Basically, you'll be scavenging resources in the frozen world around you. You'll need to upgrade your vehicle and get things like a grappling hook and EMP's on the vehicle. This will help you provide shelter and help other survivors.
This is a mix of driving and survival gameplay that combines exploration and puzzle solving aspects. You'll be managing your base and attempting to escape to safety. This comes after 3DClouds recent title, The Road of Dust and Sorrow.
The previous game came out in December and released on several platforms including Switch and PC. Now, the studio is stepping out to something more vehicular oriented within survival with AfterZero.
AfterZero: The Last Drive is launching in 2027. It'll be out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It's a narrative driven game that involves vehicle upgrades and survival gameplay. The campaign should be challenging as you explore a harsh winter wasteland.
