OnePlus Nord 6 brings Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and 165Hz display

OnePlus Nord 6 features Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, 7500mAh battery, and 3600 nits display. Compare specs and pricing against the Nord 5 here.

OnePlus updated the Nord 6 to address the battery life and display brightness limitations that frustrated users of the previous Nord 5. The new model targets buyers who need a mid-range smartphone that lasts longer on a single charge and offers better visibility in direct sunlight. This shift matters because the Nord 5 struggled with average battery endurance and dim screens, which are critical factors for daily commuters and outdoor users. The Nord 6 directly replaces these pain points with a larger battery and a significantly brighter panel.

Mid-range smartphone gains significant battery life and screen brightness

The device runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, which marks a clear step up from the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 found in the Nord 5. This chipset delivers noticeable gains in CPU power, graphics performance, and AI processing efficiency. OnePlus paired the processor with UFS 4.1 storage, a faster standard than the UFS 3.1 used in the predecessor. This combination allows the phone to launch apps quickly and handle intensive multitasking without lag. The phone ships with Android 16 and OxygenOS 16 to provide a modern software foundation.

Spec comparison

Spec OnePlus Nord 6 OnePlus Nord 5
Processor Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3
Display 6.78-inch AMOLED, 165Hz, 3600 nits 6.7-inch AMOLED, 144Hz, 1800 nits
Battery 7500mAh (Global) / 9000mAh (India) 6800mAh
Durability IP68/IP69, MIL-STD-810H IP65
Price $500 / ₹43,000 $360

OnePlus equipped the Nord 6 with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that supports a 165Hz refresh rate and reaches 3600 nits of peak brightness. This represents a significant increase over the Nord 5, which offered a 144Hz panel with only 1800 nits of peak brightness. The battery capacity also expanded to 7500mAh for global models and 9000mAh for the Indian variant, compared to the 6800mAh cell in the Nord 5. The phone supports 80W wired charging and up to 27W reverse wired charging for accessories. It also includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 for modern connectivity standards.

Durability features have been upgraded with IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H certification. The Nord 5 only carried an IP65 rating, so the Nord 6 offers substantially better protection against environmental damage. OnePlus uses Crystal Guard with Mohs Level 8 hardness for the screen to resist scratches and impacts. The global price starts at $500, while the Indian version costs 43,000 INR (around $454). These prices position the Nord 6 above the Nord 5, which launched at approximately $360. Buyers who prioritize selfie quality or ultrawide versatility might still consider the older Nord 5, but the Nord 6 provides superior core hardware for the price difference.

We touched on OnePlus Nord CE 6 vs Samsung Galaxy A57 in our earlier Oneplus coverage. The Nord 6 confirms that OnePlus is focusing on endurance and display quality for its mid-range lineup. The combination of a larger battery, brighter screen, and faster processor makes it a practical upgrade for users who outgrew the Nord 5.
