dBrand has opened sales for a physical protective case designed specifically for the Machine. This release gives owners of the console a dedicated enclosure that replaces standard packaging with a structured, reusable shell. Buyers looking to store their Steam Machine safely or display it as a centerpiece now have a hardware option that prioritizes durability and thematic design over simple cardboard protection.

Two SKUs include magnetic cleaning and Portal-themed accessories

The product lineup features two distinct models: the Companion Cube and the Poverty Cube. Both versions serve as protective housings for the Steam Machine console, utilizing a design language inspired by the popular video game Portal. The Companion Cube targets collectors who want a premium presentation, while the Poverty Cube offers a more utilitarian approach for users who prioritize function over form.

  • Material: Polycarbonate and Polyurethane
  • Features: Screws and magnets for easy cleaning; front panel removal; bottom/back vents
  • Included Items (Companion Cube): Test Chamber Diorama, Red Button stand, microfiber cloth, Collector’s Edition box, Orange and Blue Steam Controller skin
  • Included Items (Poverty Cube): Cube and brown cardboard box

Construction relies on a shell made from polycarbonate and polyurethane to ensure structural integrity. The design incorporates screws and magnets to allow for easy cleaning and maintenance of the case interior. A magnetic front panel enables users to remove the front section without tools, providing access to the bottom and back vents for airflow management.

The higher-tier Companion Cube model includes several accessories to enhance the ownership experience. Purchasers receive a Test Chamber diorama, a stand for the iconic red button, a microfiber cloth, a Collector’s Edition box, and a skin for the Orange and Blue Steam Controller. The lower-tier Poverty Cube option contains only the cube case and a standard brown cardboard box, omitting the additional collectible items.

Pricing for the Companion Cube is set at $130 USD (around $130), while the Poverty Cube is listed at $100 USD (around $100). The Companion Cube model is scheduled to ship in late July. The Poverty Cube version will follow with shipments beginning in October.
