Sega has canceled development of its 'Super Game' project. The cancellation was quietly confirmed in a slide within Sega's latest financial results.

The 'Super Game' was envisioned as a title that would stand above normal games, building a whole worldview involving players, streamers, and viewers, according to Sega executive Shuji Utsumi. The company is now lowering the priority of free-to-play games, citing weak performance of Sonic Rumble Party and its acquisition of Rovio. Over 100 developers have been moved from free-to-play to full game development teams focusing on mainstay IPs.
Despite the cancellation, planned revivals of Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage remain in production.
The news was first reported by Video Games Chronicle. Sega has not provided further details on the cancellation or the future of its live service strategy.
