AMD plans to release its next-generation desktop processors under the Olympic Ridge codename, targeting a launch window in early 2027. The company is reportedly shifting away from integrated graphics for these standard models by removing the iGPU entirely. This architectural change signals a move toward dedicated AI acceleration hardware within the processor ecosystem.

The upcoming chips belong to the Ryzen 10000 series and will operate on the existing AM5 socket platform. AMD intends to position this lineup against Intel's Nova Lake-S processors in the high-end desktop segment. The processors utilize the Zen 6 microarchitecture for improved core performance and efficiency.
AMD is introducing a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) directly into the processor's I/O die. This hardware component will handle AI acceleration tasks separately from the main CPU cores. It represents the first time AMD has added specialized AI silicon to a standard desktop CPU without an integrated graphics unit.
The removal of the iGPU means these processors will require a separate discrete graphics card for display output. Consumers transitioning to this platform should confirm that their existing motherboards support the required socket interface. The design prioritizes raw processing power and AI workloads over built-in visual capabilities.
