Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog are reimagining the 1996 title Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The studio positions this project as a deep narrative expansion rather than a simple visual update. Players can expect modernized traversal mechanics and combat systems that draw inspiration from the Survivor trilogy.
New crafting system and expanded lore define the 2027 adventure
The game blends classic character bravado with the human depth found in recent entries. A new crafting system adds strategic layers to exploration and survival. Developers aim to expand the original lore significantly to create a richer experience for returning fans.
Art Director Arek Tomaszewski stated that the team takes unique moments from the original game and makes them bigger. The studio uses artificial intelligence as a tool to help concept teams find answers faster. This technology assists in visualization before content moves into the traditional human-crafted pipeline.
All finished content in the final game will remain human-designed and built. The project targets a global release on Friday, February 12, 2027. This date marks the first major milestone for the reimagined adventure.
