State of Decay 3 now has a release window. The zombie survival game will launch on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC in 2027.

Alpha playtests begin in May 2025

Undead Labs is developing the title. A new trailer shows improved visual fidelity compared to earlier footage.

Alpha playtests began in May 2025. They include four-player co-op and new base building mechanics.

Community feedback shapes development

Series co-creator Brant Fitzgerald said community feedback influenced development. He stated, "We've been keeping a close eye on what you liked about State of Decay 2 and what you didn't." He added, "It became clear that community is survival and that we need your help."

Studio head Philip Holt confirmed the 2020 reveal trailer was a concept, not actual gameplay. The new trailer represents the game's current direction.

State of Decay 3 is confirmed for a 2027 release across multiple platforms. Alpha testing is already underway.
