A heads up for PC gamers on high-end machines. Metro 2033 Redux has received an update that adds support for DLSS 5 to the game. This new DLSS 5 support alters how the game is rendering and performing visuals.

Update adds 4K and uncapped FPS alongside visual upgrades
It's a significant update because it's bringing a classic game up to speed with modern upscaling tech. This could change how the game is experienced for users with the latest GPUs.
The Metro 2033 Redux update is a new one from developer 4A Games, adding support for DLSS 5. Support for it is added officially, which means it's now found within the game's video settings. It's labeled there as DLSS-NR, for Neural Rendering.
It's the second game to have this specific DLSS support implementation. NBA 2K27 being the first. Alongside it, the update adds support for native 4K resolution. It also adds uncapped frame rates.
Checking it out using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, the game is staying above 120 FPS. That's in the DLSS Quality preset. Activating DLSS 5 is a massive power drain on this card.
For the Founders Edition, it's up to 575W of power. The update also adds visual improvements. These include screen space Global Illumination and increased geometry. All to help with character skin and texture details, as well as contact shadows.
We're not sure if the current build being used is the optimized DLSS 5 one that was released earlier in the week. Also, Metro Last Light Redux is getting the same Next-Gen Update with DLSS 5 support. This update gives both games visual upgrades and performance boosts. You can expect a better image and increased frame rates on the supported hardware.
