Tales of Eternia Remastered was the #1 video game in Japanese retail sales for the week ending Oct. 18, 2026. This confirms there is a high demand for the remastered role-playing game on various Nintendo and Sony platforms. This should reassure potential customers about the commercial viability of the franchise, when it comes to the region.
Bandai Namco RPG outsells Castlevania: Belmont's Curse in Japanese retail chart
Tales of Eternia Remastered from Bandai Namco was the top-ranked new video game. It was the top-seller for the week in Japan, in physical form. They shipped 42,304 copies of the game during the report period. This beat other notable new games like Castlevania: Belmont's Curse which was #2, with 23,251 copies sold.
Notably, the game also sold well on three different hardware ecosystems. It's a triple threat, for sure. For Switch 2 hardware, sales were 21,854 units.
For PS5 family (hardware), the sales were 10,667 units. The copies shipped for Tales of Eternia Remastered for Switch 2 were 17,911 copies. The original Switch had 14,003 copies.
PlayStation 5 hardware had 10,390 copies. Sales were very low for Xbox Series hardware, at just 229 units.
Rhythm Heaven Groove still has a long tail and appears in the top ten again this week. The game sold 13,084 copies this week. We have been keeping a close eye on Tales of Eternia Remastered, see our previous coverage on The Apothecary Diaries. We can now confirm that Switch 2 is the current platform of choice for new physical game releases (in Japan).
