P.T. port developer will be less active in community management post v.1.0.8 going forward. It's important news for those using the fan-made free P.T. port for modern PC hardware support. The main reason for the developer Laurian Xavier to be less active with the community is the toxic harassment they have faced.
Developer Laurian Xavier withdraws from community management following severe online abuse
Although the developer feels proud of their work, they are moving away from the community hate. The developer says they don't regret the development of the port despite the personal consequences. They've faced death threats and slurs from the community.
What's impressive is the technical prowess in the port. It's using original PS4 Fox engine code. The port is around 97% done and brings ray tracing, VR, increased FPS on top of the original.
This is all being done by Xavier, who is unemployed and is working on the port alone. It's a personal investment.
Toxic harassment goes as far as suspension on Xavier's Ko-fi account and attacking donation pages. The developer is turning their focus towards a new project. This is a Silent Hill 3 reverse engineering project. This means the end of active development on the P.T. port by the developer.
The P.T. port for PC is an important piece for those wanting to get access to the cancelled demo on modern hardware. But with the developer withdrawing themselves, it doesn't mean much more will be coming in terms of updates or community interactions. You should expect the current version to be the last big push from Xavier.
