Elite Dangerous Adds Ship Interiors After 10 Years of Player Requests

Elite Dangerous finally adds walkable ship interiors after a decade of requests, starting with the Anaconda Mk II and a major crime system overhaul.

Frontier Developments Elite Dangerous
GAMES

Frontier developments have finally (after 10 years of asking) introduced ship interiors into Elite Dangerous. Why does this matter? Because now Elite Dangerous isn't just cockpit.

First explorable interior arrives with Anaconda Mk II

Now you can actually traverse the interior of your ship. And now those who have been looking forward to this feature since they bought it get to walk around the inside of their ships and not just fly them.

The first ship to have the explorable interior spaces is the Anaconda Mk II ship. You can walk around in a cargo space and view things through the windows on this particular ship. The ship is currently up for purchase (with real money) in the in-game store. And will also be available in Elite Dangerous: Odyssey for free (after a few months).

Also, big updates coming in December 2026 called Law & Disorder. This update is to re-work crime in the game. Big changes to crime to make it better for space pirates, smugglers, and more. New mechanics for players to go through when it comes to law enforcement and evasion.

They have been listening to the community for 10 years to give us this. This Anaconda Mk II is the first proof of concept when it comes to traversing the interior. Free migration to Odyssey makes this new ship model available to a wider audience. Systemic changes to crime in the game coming in the December 2026 update.
