Samsung is bringing cross platform file sharing to mid-range Galaxy devices. The feature bridge a gap between Samsung’s A57, A56 mid-range devices and flagship models. This gives users who use both Android and iOS platforms a way to share files, without needing to resort to third party apps or cables. The feature makes the life of those who buy the mid-range Galaxy devices a little easier if they need to share photos/docs with the iPhone users.
Mid-range Galaxy phones now support cross-platform file sharing with iPhones
This new update comes in the form of One UI 9.0 update to Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A56. Samsung enables AirDrop-like sharing to Apple devices with the help of new toggle called ‘Share with Apple devices’ in the Quick Share settings menu. It’s pretty much same as the one available on the Galaxy S series.
As per the Samsung Community and Reddit user reports, the feature is now live on A57 and A56. Users get to now share files directly to iOS devices using the Quick Share system. It just makes the mid-range devices a little more useful if you’re using devices from both camps.
Official One UI 9.0 update changelogs miss out on mentioning any such thing about Airdrop extension. There’s a disconnect between what’s happening internally and what the end user is experiencing. It’s not mentioned in official changelogs but the Samsung community members have confirmed the presence and working of the toggle. As for what else changed, we reported similar balance and stability tweaks the last time Galaxy A57/Galaxy A56 got an update.
Samsung has confirmed the One UI 9.0 update for these specific mid-range devices. It’s a big step towards bringing uniformity in Galaxy software experience to all levels of devices. Users can start using this feature as soon as they get their device updated.
