Denuvo was granted permission to attempt to get true identities of hacker named voices38 by means of court order. This court action is important not just as one which tackles the software issue. The focus is on getting the true identity of the person behind cracks. This makes gamers, that are interested in DRM bypassing understand better what legal ramifications are in this particular case.
Hacker deletes Reddit account after court order, returns with altered pseudonym
To retaliate, hacker decided to remove Reddit account 'voices38' immediately after court decision. A new account with the pseudonymous name 'v0ices38' appeared on hacker forum and Reddit shortly after. The new name is different, since it uses number zero in place of letter 'o'.
This hacker voices38 is famous for making 'old school' full bypass cracks for Denuvo DRM. This is different from other crackers which might use hypervisor approach. The court decision gave Denuvo opportunity to try to find out the true identity of original hacker, even after the name change.
Players believe, that this name change is a trick to make Denuvo start new legal data requests. It is thought that this is done in order to slow down or confuse the process of identification. The new account was posted on October 21, just the day when old account was removed.
We reported about latest voices38 update and some of the same balance and stability issues were discussed. In this case we see that Denuvo is taking active steps to find crackers using legal channels. Also we see that the very fact of original account removal shows that this particular hacker changes his operational tactics.
