With a solid release date for The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother, fans of the series now have a clear window of time to set themselves up to get their hands on it. The game will be released on March 18th, 2027. That will be for the , Switch 2, Switch, and PC on .

Gust-developed mystery game arrives on PS5, Switch 2, and PC with playable Jinshi

All of these consoles and systems are great to have the game releasing on as that means current-gen and current handheld console owners don't need to wait for different regional versions to be delayed and released. We'll be watching this one closely as it's growing the series to new generations of hardware.

  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Switch 2, Switch, PC (Steam)
  • Release Date: March 18, 2027
  • Developer: Gust
  • Standard Edition Price: 8,580 yen
  • Digital Deluxe Edition Price: 10,010 yen

For the game, it was developed by Gust with the intent of building off of the story settings from the popular light novel series. With the overall theme and genre being that of an investigation / mystery type. Which means you'll be able to get involved with certain characters in the story, not just the main protagonist.

You'll be able to play as Jinshi or Maomao (Cat) to help with investigations and have access to some information that's just outside the scope of Maomao (Human). There's even some perspectives changing during key moments to mix things up within the game as Koei Tecmo explains.

For the game's release date, it'll be hitting North America, Europe, and Japan all on March 18th, 2027 at the same time. For versions of the game, physical and digital copies will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 (North America & Europe). There will be a physical copy available in retail in Japan for the Switch version. For both digital accessibility and collector interest in key regions, this is a great update on the multiple platforms.

The pricing breaks down per region and for the different versions of the game, though we'll use the Japanese pricing as the base for the rest of the world in terms of approximations. Standard Edition: 8,580 JPY (roughly $54.23). Digital Deluxe Edition: 10,010 JPY (roughly $63.26).

Premium Box: 15,510 JPY (roughly $98.03) or the Special Premium Box: 25,960 JPY (roughly $164). Then if you pre-order the game before March 31st, 2027 you'll get some early purchase bonuses. All of this is great as the different options are good for everyone from casual players to true fans of the series getting specific perks.

Speaking of the vibe of the game, you can see that within the quotes given from the game. Like Yanxi saying "A man's ability is poison and medicine. If you can use it to help people, it's like medicine." So you can get a feel for the narrative style of the game to match the original source.

You can read more about the initial announcement of the game for PS5, Switch 2, and PC in our previous article. Which is what we have here with the actual logistics of the release confirmed now. Having the date and price in place means buyers can make more informed choices before spring hits.
