Square Enix makes changes to difficulty levels for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and it’s important because you have access to the hardest game content right away. Square Enix removes that blocking mechanism that you had to beat the main story before jumping into hardcore mode. This change gives gamers the opportunity to challenge themselves right away instead of forcing players to beat the entire narrative story first.
Square Enix removes story gate for Final Fantasy VII Revelation hard difficulty
This change is coming to the upcoming game from Square Enix that will release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s about six months away from release and features a complex combat system. Players will be using tactical maneuvers, combined skills, and the FITS system. Not only that but players will also find more fights against powerful Weapons during their first playthrough, to add more challenge to the first run of the game.
Naoki Hamaguchi, the director, says that the idea is to make fights more difficult. Instead of creating artificial blockages like the ones seen in Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth (where you can’t enter hard mode until you beat the main story), this high-difficulty content is now part of the main gameplay loop.
We saw some of the same balance issues and stability topics in the last Final Fantasy VII Revelation update that we talked about when we covered that update. So there’s definitely some common threads in how they’re trying to streamline the main gameplay loop. And now it’s going to be coming to all these different modern platforms in the upcoming release. If you want a big challenge, you can just jump right into the hardest content right away.
