Valve shared their weekly Steam chart statistics for the time period October 13th to 20th, 2026. What is interesting is how we see a change in spending pattern. As the free to play games overall takes the cake in the revenue category and paid premium games taking the overall lead in their own category.
Free-to-play titles dominate overall revenue while paid games lead premium charts
This shows that free to play games can take top revenue spot ahead of even the big franchise games. It's a nice way to see which games are trending most on the platform for this week!
Overall Steam charts by revenue had PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS taking the number one spot. The Free to Play game taking over the second place Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Dota 2 filling the 3rd and completing top 3 of the overall chart. Showing the spend on the older multiplayer games such as PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
In the premium paid charts, we see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 leading the top 10 charts for premium games. With Planet Zoo 2 and EA SPORTS FC 27 following it up. Comparing the overall and premium charts, we see the free to play games taking overall revenue while paid games leading the revenue.
In the overall top 10, we see three huge free to play games (PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS / Dota 2 / Counter-Strike 2). And the premium top 10 has all paid games taking the top 10. This highlights that the Free games are overall top and Paid games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 are top in paid games.
