Arrowhead Game Studios, the devs of HELLDIVERS 2 have replaced the game's anti-cheat system. GameGuard has been replaced with Easy Anti-Cheat. Arrowhead Game Studios replaces GameGuard with Easy Anti-Cheat
This applies to the PC version of HELLDIVERS 2 on Steam. The game is currently priced at $39.99. It's also one of the most popular games on Steam Deck. That's a pretty important detail since they actually tackled compatibility issues in their community update.
From a technical standpoint, the anti-cheat stuff is being replaced with Easy Anti-Cheat. This was confirmed by Arrowhead, Steam Deck and Linux compatibility remains the same. Mods are still supported. That said, they may require updating to work with this new anti-cheat system.
Depending on the density of the screen, you'll see some different performance levels on the handheld. You'll get 30FPS in early parts of the game. There may be frame drops when there's a lot of enemies on the screen. This is as per what can be expected from the hardware in hectic gameplay situations.
We were keeping an eye on the Steam Deck Verified Games Pass as it crossed 30,000 titles. It was a reminder of how increasingly important anti-cheat is for popular titles. And HELLDIVERS 2 is still in that category, part of the changing world of Verified/Supported games.
