There’s a new way to play single-player games with your friends. This comes in the form of Co-op Anything. cranebeaker, the developer, launched this software to transform single-player games into co-op multiplayer games with the help of AI agents. Why is this important?

Developer cranebeaker uses AI to reverse-engineer game code for Fallout and Zelda co-op mods
Well, this opens the doors to co-op gaming for games that didn’t officially support it in the first place. This means you can play classic games with your friends now.
In essence, Co-op Anything uses AI agents to inject into game code. Either it’s to repair broken or dead co-op mods or it’s to reverse-engineer a game’s source code to create new co-op features from scratch. It supports various development platforms. That includes Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, and OpenCode.
As for Co-op Anything, you can check out its source code. The public GitHub is open so you can review it. Already, the developer has either made or is currently working on mods for some notable games. The current or upcoming ones that they’re working on or have ready include Fallout: New Vegas, Deus Ex, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Dungeon Keeper.
We should point out that, while these mods have questionable code quality, they’re very functional. That’s another caveat to this. While the AI does create functional multiplayer features, the code behind it may or may not be perfectly polished or optimized. If you’re looking to see how they work for these specific titles, then feel free to check them out and see if you think they’re up to your standards of reliability and playability.
