Vampire Survivors dev is pulling a paid dlc. Due to copyrights. So this is for those people who bought the castlevania DLC stuff on steam. Demonstrating the precarious nature of licensed content available through digital storefronts.
48 Castlevania tracks will vanish from the paid DLC as licensing agreement expires
The Vampire Survivors dev poncle is announcing a collaboration with Konami to mark the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania franchise. They release the "Vampire Survivors Soundtrack" dlc which contains the entire soundtrack "Ode to Castlevania" (48 tracks). Using Vampire Survivors to demonstrate how license agreements can end after you've released.
So this licensing agreement is for a limited time for the music. Which means eventually all (48) tracks will be pulled from the dlc. Because poncle was not able to license the rights to put these music tracks on streaming services. "this is a limited-term licensing agreement" is what the developer says about it.
With the current public beta update 1.17.108. They release Custom Characters. This is a new relic and character and weapon and evolution and arcana.
And Baron Husker. This is while this music stuff is going to be pulled. So we're getting new gameplay mechanics in the game. While the audio stuff is being pulled.
So this all comes after they released the Legacy of the Bloodmoon dlc on August 28. Last time we covered the Vampire Survivors update there were some similar topics of balance and stability. The thing is now we're not talking about game balance we're talking about legal concerns.
So, you still have the visuals and game-play aspects of the castlevania dlc. Just the music tracks are going to vanish at the end of this limited-term agreement. Also they still have updates for the game. Adding new characters and weapons in the public beta.
