PC HARDWARE

The ZBook Ultra G3a 16 is a new offering from HP for mobile workstations that caters to big local AI and 3D modeling workloads. This is important for professionals since they get access to some very good hardware that has tons of system RAM to let its integrated graphics borrow most of the RAM for visuals. This means that if you're working in data science and/or rendering complex stuff, you can get the power of a workstation in a mobile device without the need for a discrete GPU.

Mobile workstation ships with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 and Radeon 8065S graphics

HP's new laptop is based on the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor, which uses Zen 5 architecture to be very good at efficient computing. On top of that, HP is using a Radeon 8065S GPU that is integrated with this chip and comes with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units. With this, users can do all sorts of demanding stuff for creativity right on the laptop. The integrated graphics is impressive since it can dynamically share its resources with system memory.

Spec comparison

Spec Base Configuration US High-End EU High-End
Processor AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495

You can get up to 192GB of RAM on this system, which means you can have up to 160GB of virtual video memory for the Radeon 8065S GPU, at least in the most top-tier builds. For the base model, you'll have a 16-inch IPS display that does 1920×1200, offers 400nits of brightness, and 100% sRGB. In higher tiers, you'll get a 2560×1600 screen that can run at 120Hz (US only), or a 3840×2400 screen that does 500nits (Europe only). All versions will have a 96Wh battery for mobile use.

There are two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10Gbps USB-C port, a regular USB-A port, HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader, and a headphone jack. The Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 has a maximum of 132 TOPS for local AI computing, which is what HP claims. This is also great for NPU, since it can perform real-time inference for generative AI models locally.

You can get this starting at $3,149 USD (around $3,149) in the US for the base model. For the US, the highest end would go for $7,999 USD (around $7,999). For the UK, you get up to £9,642.06 GBP (around $12,787).

In Germany, the max price is €16,625.53 EUR (around $18,646). You can buy this device now from official HP in the US, UK, and Germany.

Previously we've covered the Acemagic F9A Mini PC Launches With (when we were looking at AMD stuff releases). As you can see, they're using the same Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor for this mini PC, which shows its versatility. The ZBook Ultra G3a 16 is a bigger screen and has much higher memory limits for those looking for a mobile workstation.
