Half Human Games unveiled a new dark, cosmic fantasy tactical RPG called Myths from the Maw. In this game, you'll have to weigh power versus morality degradation. This news is important because this game features a corruption mechanic where every choice you make is forever changing your mercenaries. Meaning you'll have to make some high-risk tactical calls. If you like brutal challenges with storytelling implications, then be sure to keep an eye on how sin changes the gameplay experience.

Corruption mechanics alter mercenary behavior in new tactical RPG
In this game you play as the leader of a mercenary band that's headed to the Maw – a massive spacefallen fortress full of eldritch terrors and rival warbands. According to Half Human Games founder Percy Legendre IV, this game is like his love letter to Dante's Inferno. He's trying to make a game world where every decision tests your morality. You must offer blood to foreign gods in order to become powerful enough to make it through grotesque passages.
The game's combat is brutal tactical turn-based skirmishes where position and area of effect patterns are key to your survival. You'll use abilities like Dashing Slash and Leaping Smash to change your position and catch your enemies unaware. Meanwhile, you can knockback, pull, or stun your enemies to better manage the battlefield. Position yourself to make deadly multi-target attacks.
As your mercenaries make blood sacrifices, kill enemies and make certain story decisions – they'll gain corruption points. Once they have a lot of corruption, they'll gain sin traits that change their behavior. For instance, greedy mercenaries may start to steal supplies. Meanwhile, hopeless mercenaries might just start running away from combat. The game has 12 races and 20 classes (including Shadow Knight and Witch Hunter) with roguelike features like permadeath and procedurally generated dungeons to keep things replayable.
Half Human Games is looking to start a Kickstarter campaign in 2027 to finance development for Myths from the Maw. So this game is definitely coming to PC on Steam. And it's shaping up to be a very strategic experience if you like cosmic horror and tactical RPGs. When the game will be ready is going to depend on the success of the upcoming crowdfunding campaign. This will help determine the final scope and timeline.
