Sega is doubling down on its racing title with a major content roadmap that extends well into 2027. This announcement ensures that players who invested in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will have a steady stream of new features to explore over the next year. The studio confirmed that the second year of support begins immediately, giving the community a clear timeline for upcoming additions.

Sega outlines major content roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds through 2027

The immediate update arriving on November 3, 2026, introduces significant gameplay changes alongside new cosmetic content. Sega is adding Duel mode for one-on-one competition, Rival Duel Match for offline artificial intelligence challenges, and Friend Match for online play. These additions expand the competitive structure beyond the standard race format, allowing players to test their skills in varied scenarios.

Beyond the new modes, the game receives tangible quality-of-life improvements and high-profile character crossovers. The gadget system will receive specific improvements to enhance gameplay mechanics. Players can also expect the Bayonetta character to join the roster alongside the Godzilla Pack, which includes new cars and a track. A McLaren Racing car is scheduled to appear later in November.

The roadmap continues with a series of licensed packs that span different genres and franchises. Aigis from the Persona series joins the game in 2027, followed by the Evangelion Pack in January 2027. This pack includes the Tokyo-3 track, Rei and Asuka pilots, and EVA-01, 00, and 02 robots. Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty and Kuromi will arrive in Q2 2027, with Final Fantasy VII Remake content expected in the second half of the year.

This content strategy builds on the momentum from the last Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds update, which focused heavily on balance and stability. By layering new competitive modes on top of that foundation, Sega is addressing both casual and hardcore player bases. The consistent release schedule provides a reliable structure for long-term engagement with the title.
