Marvel is expanding its animated universe with three new Halloween specials for the series Marvel Zombies, giving fans a dedicated annual event for the franchise. These releases shift the focus from a single season to a recurring holiday tradition that will span several years. The move signals a long-term commitment to the zombie-themed storyline, ensuring the property remains active on Disney+ well into the next decade.

Disney+ to host annual Marvel Zombies Halloween event through 2029
The project centers on the animated series Marvel Zombies, which follows a version of the Marvel Universe overrun by a zombie plague. Brian Andrews returns as the director for all three specials, maintaining creative continuity across the new installments. This structure allows the studio to explore different corners of the zombie apocalypse through standalone stories rather than a single continuous narrative.
The first special, titled Marvel Zombies: Winter Soldier, arrives in 2027 and aims to explain the whereabouts of Bucky Barnes during the initial outbreak. The second entry, Marvel Zombies: Fist of Khonshu, is scheduled for 2028 and features Blade in his role as the avatar of Khonshu. The third and final special in this initial wave, Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian, is set for release in 2029.
Marvel confirmed these projects during New York Comic-Con, establishing a clear release schedule for the next several years. Each special will debut on Disney+ annually, creating a consistent yearly event for subscribers. While a second season of the original Marvel Zombies series is reportedly in development, the exact release date and its relationship to these specials remain unspecified.
