The free-to-play action game Zenless Zone Zero receives its version 3.3 update, titled 'Journey to the Sky,' on October 21. This update matters to players because it introduces two new S-Rank agents and a completely new combat system that changes how players engage with enemies. The addition of mech piloting offers a fresh tactical layer for those who enjoy strategic positioning and varied attack ranges.

New mech piloting system expands combat options
miHoYo developed the game, which has seen consistent content drops since its initial release. The version 3.3 patch brings specific character additions to the gacha system, allowing players to recruit new heroes for their teams. Previous updates have followed a similar pattern of introducing new agents and events, maintaining a steady pace of content for the community.
The first half of the new banner features Phoenix, an S-Rank Anomaly Agent designed to disrupt enemy defenses. The second half of the banner introduces Severian, an S-Rank Attack Agent focused on dealing high damage output. These new characters join the roster alongside rerun banners for existing S-Rank Agents Velina and Norma, giving players more options for team composition.
A major gameplay addition in this update is the ability to pilot combat mechs. Players can use these machines to execute both melee strikes and ranged attacks, expanding the standard combat toolkit. The update also includes new events named 'Night of Supernatural Tricks' and 'Cyber Miracle Healer, on Duty!' to provide additional activities and rewards for participants.

We have seen similar balance and stability themes emerge in previous patches, such as the version 3.2 update that added Claret Flint and Roxy Pryce. The current update continues this trend by expanding the roster and adding mechanical variety to the gameplay loop. Players can expect a structured rollout of these new features starting on the scheduled release date.
